TUWALINDE WATOTO Project

This project was designed in 2017/2018 through a participatory process involving SAWA, Mvomero District Council (LGA), and local communities from Matale, Doma, Msongozi, Mtipule, and Mbugani villages. It is funded by ChildFund Korea and implemented by SAWA Wanawake Tanzania (SAWA), with active community participation through the contribution of local materials as well as involvement in monitoring and evaluation. The project spans nine years (May 2018 - December 2026) and focuses on three key areas: improving access to equitable and quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) services for children aged 0-6 years, enhancing access to equitable and quality basic education for children aged 7-16 years, and strengthening both formal and informal community-based child protection systems for all children as well as Women and girls economic empowerment. The project has been implemented in phases, with Phase 1 (2018-2020) covering Matale, Doma, Msongozi, Mtipule, Lusanga, and Gwata villages; Phase 2 (2021-2023) expanding to Dibamba, Mbugani,Wami Dakawa, and Ndama villages; and Phase 3 (2024 - 2026) currently being implemented in Wami Dakawa, Wami Sokoine, Makuture, and Mela villages.

Recognition of the Project by Regional and District Government in Morogoro

Regional and Mvomero District governments well recognize "TUWALINDE WATOTO" Project, and this was right from the project inception. The District officials were fully involved in identifying community needs, planning and designing of the project. The Regional Administrative Secretary for Morogoro Mr CLIFODI TANDARI was formerly involved in the initiation of the project idea, but also invited to officiate its start at the Mvomero District offices. The project has been implemented in line with government guidelines and regulations as well as capitalizing on the technical expertise available in the district council when implementing both hard and soft-ware interventions of the project.

(a) Construction of classrooms and Staff and teachers' houses

(b) Girl's Hostels

3 gilrs' hostel constructed at Doma, Mvomero and Wami Secondary Schools which accomodate 120 girls per hostel.

(c) One Stop Center

2 one stop centers have been contructed at Mvomero Dc and Morogoro minicipal to support gender based violence suvivors
