Sauti zetu (our voices) project

The Sauti Zetu Project is a multiyear initiative coordinated by HakiElimu in partnership with SAWA and other civi l society organisations to support the implementation of the National Strategy for Inclusive Education (2021/22-2025/26) in Tanzania. The project began in 2023 and focuses on promoting government accountability, civic participation, and community engagement to ensure that children with disabilities, girls, and other marginalised learners have equitable access to quality education. Through social accountability monitoring, policy dialogue, awareness raising, and community mobilisation, Sauti Zetu strengthens the capacity of citizens, education actors, and local government authorities to monitor and report on the delivery of inclusive education services at school and community levels. Activities have included monitoring implementation of the national strategy across districts such as Mtwara, Mbeya, Bagamoyo, Ifakara, and Mvomero, training stakeholders in inclusive education and social accountability, and facilitating highlevel stakeholder reflections on progress and challenges in advancing inclusive education. The project empowers communities to demand transparency, responsiveness, and improved educational outcomes, ensuring that inclusive education becomes a lived reality for all children.
